On Education:
The education system is broken. Most American students do not care about their education; students know how to work the system, and they have been told that college is the only path, in a world wherein hands-on apprenticeships are far more realistic.
College is a lie, perpetrated by the corporate selling of formatted information. -
In many school districts, taking the ACT is mandatory. A whole day is set aside to take this test, which students are supposedly trained to take all through their education. The ACT is owned and distributed by the College Board, which also creates and sells the SAT, the PSAT, and all Advanced Placement tests over every subject area.
Many colleges today (in 2024) do not even require any of these tests for admission, and very few students score high enough for the ACT to pay for tuition and room & board even at an in-state university. Education should not be a salable commodity, but the College Board is banking on selling not only their materials to the high school and students, but the College Board also collects and sells data (from minors, by the way) to recruit students and to spam them with millions of dollars of propaganda per year.

I have recently learned that many of my juniors can barely read or write.
They seemingly have very little independent thought.
My god.
